What’s In You?

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us” (Ralph Waldo Emerson). Right now, write down 15 character traits you like about yourself. Remember that progress only occurs by doing. Write 30 additional character traits you admire in others that you desire to acquire more of throughout your life journey. Work on developing admirable traits within yourself each day. Tomorrow is not a guarantee, therefore do what must be done, today. If this were your last day to be alive on planet earth, would you be proud of the choices, behaviors, and activities you’re partaking in? Is there someone or something you are neglecting that deeply yearns for your attention?

Desire and Do

When we truly want something, as much as air, we will do whatever it takes and go anywhere to get it. Be a go-getter, while embracing positive mental attitudes (PMAs). Negative mental attitudes (NMAs) suck the life out of ourselves, along with those around us. PMAs produce energy in ourselves and others. PMAs are caught like a cold, although vibrate positive energy and wonderful emotions, unlike an illness. Positive attitudes change everything (PACE) is a worthy acronym for us to embrace. We must be aware of our thoughts, attitudes, emotions, feelings, words, principles, values, behaviors, philosophies, habits, and comprehensive internal and external environments. Be true to your dreams so you can make them reality by pushing through undesirable feelings and into success.

Reconditioning

It has been said that fleas can be conditioned inside a jar. After hitting the lid so many times they stop jumping so high. The fleas no longer jump out of the jar even when the lid is removed. Recondition your minds and begin living without self-limiting beliefs, today. Success is waiting for each of us on the other side of fear, indecision, nonbelief, and external obstacles.

Similar conditioning has held true for elephants. The programming process results set in after being shackled to the ground while young and unable to break strong ropes. Even while grown and fully capable of becoming unshackled, their unbelief or conditioned response made the seemingly impossible feat that was utterly and easily possible, hinder them from even trying. Do not let that be you any longer. You have too much greatness and potential in you to be shackled by self-limiting beliefs another moment. Go get your greatness out into the world and live out your dreams.

“Courage is contagious. When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are stiffened” (Billy Graham). Stop thinking too much and get busy doing more deliberately with powerful intrinsic purpose and meaning. Act as if failure is not possible. Act brave and you will be brave. Internally, feel victory and you will possess victory.

Taking Control of You

“If you plan on being anything less than you are capable of being, you will probably be unhappy all the days of your life” (Abraham Maslow). Live large with rich habits by replacing old negative routines with positive forward moving goal-oriented rituals. Let persistent progressive momentum build unstoppable speed and power, breaking through barriers into greatness. Take control of your life and don’t allow negative internal or external factors dictate what you think, do, say, or who you are. Just be authentically you in each present moment.

Creeping Habits

Remember, it’s much easier avoiding temptation or not acquiring the taste than it is trying to beat temptation or eradicate an acquired taste. Let’s ponder this truth while parenting or role modeling for kids and people all around us. Poor habits acquired incrementally over time creep in surreptitiously, catching us off guard. We may wonder how divorce, job loss, poor health, or an undesirable event occurred, until radically honest deep self-reflection reveals truths of neglect and mismanaged priorities. Manage yourself well—nobody will do it for you. Self-love what you owe yourself—nothing less.

Serotonin

Serotonin can enhance mood, memory, and intentionally positive behaviors, among other beneficial responses. Serotonin may be more available when we obtain recognition, praise, inspiration, motivation, exercise, healthy food, sunlight, and by taking certain antidepressant medication. If we constantly have negative self-talk, antidepressant medication and exercise will not bring us out of diminishing energy levels, poor moods, and feelings of not being fulfilled until the underlying thoughts, attitudes, and self-limiting beliefs are remedied. Choosing positive thoughts, attitudes, beliefs, behaviors, and environments will change your life. Somebody else is not responsible for your happiness. Thinking that someone else can create your long-term happiness is an erroneous, futile, and impossible feat. Get off that slippery slope before falling into icy waters, which will freeze an already cold and hardened heart. Only you hold the key to true lasting joy, peace, and happiness. Shred or delete your façade and discard. Transform through becoming love.

Thoughts

“In the province of the mind, what one believes to be true either is true or becomes true” (John Lilly). Think about your thinking because thoughts become reality. Additionally, strong feelings make for strong action. While motion or behaviors can be the precursor to emotions, feelings can generate long-term behavior and perceptual change. Allowing the mind and body to be in harmony with both thinking and acting creates potential ripples of greatness. Thoughts have power to morph into moods and automatic reactions, which when lingering long enough, becomes part of who we are. Continual hard work, determination, willingness, self-reflection, personal awareness, and persistence are crucial keys toward sustaining transformative lives. Be passionate about what you’re doing and give it all you’ve got. Decide to be someone great because everyone else is taken.

Self-Reflection

Let freedom manifest through responsible and consistent self-discipline, while thinking and behaving coherently with personal truths. Becoming aware of possible bias or prejudice in beliefs is a paramount step toward uncovering subconscious and conscious realities. This recognition and acceptance allows change from the inside out. External variables and other people’s opinions no longer hold personal feelings as slaves. Unleash victim mentalities by consciously delving into the realms of who you are, what you desire to change, and who you want to be. What’s holding you back?

Explore Joy

Remember to feel and express joy, while paving roads toward actualizing dreams come true. It is while we are making plans for our future that life happens. Each adventurous exploration from who and where we are to who and where we want to be is life itself. Being, is life, which becomes magnificently fulfilling when accompanied with a warm smile, heart-felt perpetual peaceful solace, and the magical omnipotence of lavishly graceful love embodied for oneself and others.  Embracing internal truths and radical honesty have supremely healing upward cyclical powers when harnessed and practiced repeatedly. What makes you genuinely happy? Why not do more of that? Bring on the joy, today.

Principles Persevere

“I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. ‘Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death” (Thomas Paine). By being and doing we deliver the best example to follow, for only we can change ourselves, which is a full-time, persistent, and constant inside lifelong endeavor. Get out of your own way, while fervently pursuing your dreams and goals allowing nothing that happens stop or hinder you from moving and progressing faithfully forward. It is good to fall forward, although motivational speaker and author, Les Brown, has a saying, “If I can look up, I can get up.”¹ Even when we fall backwards, if we can look up, we can get up and press on toward our dreams.
