Own Mistakes and Rectify

“How few there are who have courage enough to own their own faults, or resolution enough to mend them!” (Benjamin Franklin). You are where you are, period. Acknowledge and own poor choices, while forgiving, learning, correcting, and moving on. Look problems head on by making a commitment to your commitment about rectifying any issue currently faced with. Don’t run from a problem or dwell on it, which only reinforces that issue or destructive behavior. We are all in a constant state of change whether we are aware of it or not. If you want to change where or who you are, then do something about it by changing yourself intentionally. Habits change the moment we decide to actively pursue change and do something different, therefore producing new results. Changing your ways is up to you, and you alone.

Verbal Flatus

If feeling you must complain about something, talk with the person who can do something about it. Ideally, have or seek a practical solution prior to speaking. People or innocent bystanders are not garbage dispensers for your trash and verbal flatus. Being brave and wise enough to seek your manager, spouse, human resource department, coach, counselor or professional whom can most aptly help resolve your complaints is essential to success. We are each responsible and accountable for our own success and places in life; nobody else is to blame. Consistently live with a mental picture at the forefront of your mind about how you desire to live your life.

New Day

“In the long run, we shape our lives, and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are ultimately our own responsibility” (Eleanor Roosevelt). Take accountability for who and where you are in life. If you desire exponential positive forward progress and something radically different from what you are currently experiencing, definitively decide to valiantly make dreams happen, while never getting stuck stewing in the review mirror. Each day is brand new, full of opportunity and potential. Similarly, you can reinvent yourself daily by heeding wonderful possibilities toward further growth and graciously developing additional gifts, talents, skills, and abilities to give to our magnificent universe.

Save Lives

People can save their own lives by forming and implementing life-transforming habits each day. Their positive example has the power of sustaining grace to help save many lives as well, even without them knowing. Physical activity is an excellent method that helps replace and break bad habits, in turn, feeling energized, focused, and being in control again while creating a calm, cool, and collected peak mental state.

Living Well Spent

“We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that death will tremble to take us” (Charles Bukowski). Continual growth and progress are pivotal keys toward living fully, therefore dying full, yet spent. You can’t spend your way to monetary wealth, only long-term joy fulfilling wealth. Remember to start where you are with what you have. No excuses, blaming, complaining, self-pity, regret, shame, or procrastination allowed. Get intentionally busy filling yourself up with greatness so you can spend yourself in an extravagant, yet selfless manner.

Extraordinary Lives

“It is extraordinary how extraordinary the ordinary person is” (George F. Will). We all possess opportunity and potential to be extraordinarily boundless and free. Let’s create opportunity by harnessing the privilege toward becoming the best version of ourselves. With freedom comes responsibility, producing high probabilities for a wonderful life, given you choose to be free. What is your attitude toward personal development, freedom, responsibility, and growth?

Growth

Live according to the serenity prayer, “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference” (Reinhold Niebuhr). Similar to muscles growing with weights, some tension is required to grow spiritually, physically, socially, emotionally, and relationally too. Be grateful for opportunities to become better in each realm of life. Look toward tension as an opportunity to become a better version of yourself. When there is tension in life, know this depicts we are alive, able to feel and grow. Furthermore, we are responsible for controlling the controllable aspects of hormones and neurotransmitters that generate positive responses and disregarding anything outside our control. Don’t focus on perfection, only diligent effort toward aspiring to be extraordinary by doing and giving your best. Ask yourself, “Am I giving myself and others the best of me? What can I do to love myself and others better, today, and each day forward?”

 

Serotonin

Serotonin can enhance mood, memory, and intentionally positive behaviors, among other beneficial responses. Serotonin may be more available when we obtain recognition, praise, inspiration, motivation, exercise, healthy food, sunlight, and by taking certain antidepressant medication. If we constantly have negative self-talk, antidepressant medication and exercise will not bring us out of diminishing energy levels, poor moods, and feelings of not being fulfilled until the underlying thoughts, attitudes, and self-limiting beliefs are remedied. Choosing positive thoughts, attitudes, beliefs, behaviors, and environments will change your life. Somebody else is not responsible for your happiness. Thinking that someone else can create your long-term happiness is an erroneous, futile, and impossible feat. Get off that slippery slope before falling into icy waters, which will freeze an already cold and hardened heart. Only you hold the key to true lasting joy, peace, and happiness. Shred or delete your façade and discard. Transform through becoming love.

Dopamine

Major neurotransmitters and hormones that create positive or negative effects on us include dopamine, serotonin, endorphins, oxytocin, cortisol, and epinephrine. Dopamine aids in concentration, motivation, and is responsible for our reward feedback loop. Dopamine is released in response to eating, consuming caffeine and sugar, gambling, pornography, sex, alcohol, shopping, smoking cigarettes and consuming other nicotine releasing substances, illicit stimulants, and various things that feel good to us. Dopamine releasing behaviors done carelessly or irresponsibly can give us a temporary state of feeling good, thus the rewarding response facilitates cyclical repetitive behavioral patterns. In the long run, poor behaviors have the potential to wreak havoc on ourselves and everyone around us. Alternatively, healthy ways to elevate the neurotransmitter dopamine include physical activity, meditation, sunlight, hobbies, music, love-making, massage, and other enjoyable and beneficial activities. Respond Responsibly

“A leader or a man of action in a crisis almost always acts subconsciously and then thinks of the reasons for his actions” (Jawaharlal Nehru). Our words and actions may easily be produced if we are unjustly pushed to the ground by a stranger. By preconceiving what we would do prior to an event happening we can recondition a previously conditioned response. We have the power to control our thoughts, attitudes, words, perceptions, and behaviors, in turn, governing ourselves and our responses responsibly toward both internal and external stimuli.
